Neonature
The images shown here are an excerpt of the exhibition.
Living in a city, built space is usually perceived as something organic that surrounds us and our lives. It feels natural and most of the time we are not aware of the simple fact that all of this has been thought, planned and created by humans.
In the mountains - isolated from any urban context and set into the sublime alpine landscape - the built objects are showing us the power, the beauty and the horror of mankind and of its creations.
The seperation of man and nature does not exist. Human is nature. Being surrounded by nature since its appearance millions of years ago, man has automatically been part of it most of the time. Compared to that, the built space is a rather young phenomenon. It is one of the fundamental concepts of our idea of civilisation by seperating us from the natural elements. For better or for worse.
These bodies, they are us.
In his exhibition Neonature, Toni Schade shows photographs of alpine infrastructures and urban spaces. His images relate to the questions of human nature, its spaces and their relationsships.
